Colorado Parental Alienation Support (CPAS) is the region's only in-person support group offering education, discussion and support for Colorado parents experiencing custodial interference, false allegations, coercive control, and domestic violence by proxy. CPAS believes that children deserve to have the love, nurture, and time with both parents and all extended family. And, however difficult your journey, we urge you, as Coach Jim Valvano said, "Never Give Up!"
This phrase emphasizes the importance of perseverance.
CPAS is a volunteer-run, charitable support organization dedicated to assisting parents who are experiencing or have faced parental alienation.
Parental alienation (PA) is the process and outcome of psychologically manipulating a child to exhibit unwarranted fear, disrespect, or hostility towards a parent. This distinctive form of psychological abuse affects both the child and the rejected family members, typically occurring in contexts of family separation or divorce, especially when legal action is involved. Often, the primary cause is one parent’s desire to exclude the other from the child’s life; however, other family members, friends, and professionals—including psychologists, therapists, lawyers, and judges—can also significantly contribute to the process of custodial interference.
The process of alienation encompasses Alienating Behaviors (AB), which include the actions and tactics employed by the alienator, as well as both verbal and non-verbal behaviors that the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) classifies as Child Psychological Abuse. In everyday terms, this is child maltreatment and should be recognized as criminal. The consequences of these actions can manifest in the child, regardless of whether the child reciprocates or resists contact with the targeted parent (TP).
Parental alienation frequently leads to long-term or even permanent estrangement of a child from one parent and their family. As a significant Adverse Childhood Experience, it often results in greatly increased lifetime risks of both mental and physical illness.
If you or someone you care about has endured hostile aggressive parenting and the repercussions of parental alienation, you need a support group in Colorado that understands your pain. If you’ve suffered from this form of domestic violence and believe your children have been affected by child abuse related to parental alienation, we are here to help.
We are industry professionals, parents, grandparents, and concerned loved ones who truly understand your situation and can offer you the knowledge, resources, and support necessary to survive and thrive.
As the original support group in Colorado advocating for families impacted by parental alienation and related issues such as custodial interference, false allegations, coercive control, and domestic violence by proxy, we are a registered non-profit and the chapter affiliate of a 501(c)(3) dedicated to fighting for you and your children who are caught in the middle. We are also the largest and longest-running in-person support group of its kind in North America.
We hold monthly in-person meetings where we provide education, discussion, and support to help you navigate your situation. Additionally, we offer access to a variety of support resources, workshops, webinars, and conferences featuring top experts in the field.
Please join us in raising awareness of this profoundly abusive family dynamic, because we need you!

The law is based on misinformation and, as it stands, causes tremendous harm to children and families. A support group in Colorado has been formed to assist in the repeal of this legislation.
